Tiger I Mid Production - Base painting
Hi friends ! Some pictures of the first painting stages of my Tiger I.
First of all the model received Tamiya Surface Primer followed by a coat of dark brown overall (mix of XF-10 and XF-1). The highlights are made with very light grey and some white for the extreme highlights following the zenital style.

The model was sprayed with a very diluted coat of Tamiya XF-60
The summer camo was painted with green paint (various references mixed) as a network of quite transparent lines.
So, the beast is now ready for the winter camo ... soon. I will not wait the coming of the winter ;-)

Tiger I Mid Production - Assembly
Hi Friends ! Here's my new project on the workbench : the quite old Tamiya kit (1995) of the Tiger I (SdKfz. 181) ausf. E (Mid Production). I've added some upgrades to improve or correct the details.
Items used :
Items used :
- Tamiya Tiger I (Mid Production) kit 35194
- Tamiya stickers coating sheet of zimmerit
- Photoetched from Eduard and ET Models
- Barrel 8.8 cm KwK 36 L/56 from RB Model
- MG 34 from RB Model
- Towing cables from Eureka XXL (ER-3502)
- tracks from AFV Club (AF 35093)
- accessories from several brands
Let's go for the pictures.
The wheels, exhaust covers and tracks will be added after the painting stages.
Notice about the zimmerit stickers from Tamiya :
It's very easy and quick to apply on this Tamiya model. There are two coating patterns for the turret (the "normal" as I used and the "wide groved" pattern as we can see on some original pictures of Tigers tanks. I'm very statisfied with the result and it's quite realistic, beter than the hand made pattern seen on most of models. I've choised to make a "not yet damaged" pattern but it's quite easy to create battered areas with a sharp blade cutter. The tickness of the plastic stickers sheet is in my opinion quite accurate.
STRONGLY RECOMMANDED !!!The model is now ready for the painting ... It will comes very soon !

Tiger I late - Schwer Panzer Abteilung 507
To change a little bit of the 4BO green I show you a project made last year. It's a Tiger I late from Tamiya with Verlinden zimmerit, some Photo etched parts from Eduard and a little bit scratch like tool clamps ...
The painting was made with "old system" (without zenithal or modulation style) with Tamiya paints.
It depicts a Tiger of the 2nd compagny of s. Pz.-Abt. 507 in april 1944 in the Tarnopol-Brody area. This compagny was one of the best Tiger unit of the Heer. Within 11 months in operation, this unit has destroyed more than 500 tanks.
I have planed to add figures but I have to improve my painting techniques and why not a little vignette.
